The bench remains
There it sits mostly empty at the start of Darmonds Green
It has no understanding of how significant it is
As I drive past, I can barely look
To look is to remember something that has gone forever
Forever gone are those after-hours chats
Chats of God
Chats of hope
Chats of fear and sadness
Chats fueled by wine/gin/cider but never water…..
Shared chats between two friends
Two friends cemented by a shared love of God
A shared love of seeing Jesus work in people’s hearts
Joy shared in our children and family lives
Encouragement for the tough time
Hugs and love spoken over each other as we said goodnight
One day I will look and one day I will smile
Smile because I have treasure in my memories
Treasure of a time, a time spent with Jesus and a lovely friend called Debbie
Save me a seat for our next meeting
Me, you, and Jesus in the restored bodies that will no longer fail us
Thank you, Jesus, for sharing your precious Debbie with us to show us how to love one another well
